In NLP we act as if  we have six main ways of thinking, or ‘representing’ or processing information i.e.  our 5 senses plus our ability to think through self talk and analysis. We call these representational systems, or rep systems. Of the six the most commonly used are seeing, hearing, feeling and self talk – since few people use the smell and taste senses as a means of thinking.

Open Loops

Like many of the things he said back in the 80’s, Richard Bandler’s observation that people often use ‘just’ as a way of being unjust initially puzzled me. And, of course and as intended, it opened up a loop which my brain continued to puzzle at until I got my answer – weeks, or was it months, later.

(How do I know it was intended? Because the Open Loops process is a standard NLP process for eliciting a deeper level of learning. And we use the process in our own Pegasus NLP training programmes. The Open Loops process is very interesting and was wonderfully highlighted by Bluma Zeigarnik back in the 1920s.  But that’s another story… and it’s also an Open Loop…) Continue reading

We’d like you to train our team

The regional manager for the multinational had taken part, as a private individual, in our NLP Core Skills course a few months earlier and (of course :-) ) was very impressed with it. So much so that he was now approaching us to quote for a training programme.

He wanted a 3-day Team Development training for his 40-strong team so they could learn NLP skills and experience the benefits of the High & Low Ropes Challenge course which he had experienced on NLP Core Skills.

Now a three-day training for such group, who would be flying in to the UK from mainland Europe, was an impressive request. The profit from it and the opportunity to run the programme for other regions of the multinational certainly got my attention. Continue reading
